Chinese Language

Xishan Primary School’s Chinese Language department takes a holistic approach to developing pupils’ language proficiency and cultural appreciation. Through its LUSTRE programme, Mother Tongue Fortnight activities, and the school’s e-newsletter, pupils are given authentic opportunities to use Chinese meaningfully while deepening their understanding of Chinese culture.

Xishan “Language” World is a Chinese Department initiative that promotes students’ Chinese language development through school news, discussions, reading activities, and creative writing such as essays, short stories, and poetry.

Chinese Language 华文

西山小学华文部遵循教育部的方针指引，通过实施“乐学善用”教学理念，努力让华语成为学生的生活用语。除了重视学生听、说、读、写四种技能的全面发展外，更强调学生“口语互动技能”和“书面互动技能”的发展和提高。

我们针对学生在华文学习上的不同起点因材施教。除了本部门的华文阅读活动外，学校还运用电脑科技，通过网上平台，为学生提供网上作业、上网听故事等多元手段，努力让每一个学生都能自主地投入到华文的学习中。

每年，我们都会举办“母语双周”活动，设计丰富有趣的活动，让学生有机会接受华族传统文化的浸濡与学习，如学习茶艺，了解戏剧、观看相声演出, 亲手制作吉祥结、传统印章、豆画等；同时，也聘请本地资深、著名的文化人、艺术家来学校开办讲座。希望通过一系列的活动能够激发学生对华文的热爱，并学会发掘与欣赏华文之美，也让学生更有自信地运用华语准确地表达自己，同时增加对华族文化的了解。

应用学习计划

自2019年起，西山小学开始全面开展和实施“应用学习计划”（Applied Learning Programme，简称ALP）旨在提供机会引导学生将所学知识应用到现实世界，培养他们的实践能力和技能，从而发现学习背后的意义，保有对学习的热忱和好奇心。

在“Keep Calm and Give”框架的理念指引下，西山小学华文部ALP项目采用渐进的方式，为学生精心设计了一系列展现口才、加强沟通技巧的课程，以此培养有效和自信的沟通者。一至六年级项目实施计划如下：

1. 一年级：“我是小歌手”。

学生将学习华语儿童歌曲和古诗词，并有机会在全级展示所学。这些歌曲和诗词语言简洁明了，节奏轻快、动感活泼，通过演唱和表演的方式进行语言强化和词语记忆，能让学生在学习中提高自信心，同时激发学习华文的兴趣。

“I Can Buy Breakfast” is a Primary 2 experiential learning activity where students role-play in a simulated coffee shop setting to apply their Chinese language skills, develop communication abilities, and build confidence in using Chinese in real-life situations.

2. 二年级：“我会买早餐”。

配合二年级课文，创设真实场景（把咖啡店“搬”到教室中），让学生通过角色扮演的方式应用所学，发展语言沟通技巧，进一步提升使用华文表达的信心。

3. 三年级：“我是朗读高手”。

学生将着重学习朗读技巧，自选一篇课文朗诵并上传录音，全级公开评比选出“朗读高手”。在“吟咏的时候，对于探究所得的不仅理智地理解，而且亲切地体会，不知不觉之间，内容与理法化而为读者自己的东西了。”（ 叶圣陶）

4. 四年级：“我是绕口令大王”。

学生将参加绕口令比赛。作为一种特殊的语言技巧，充满趣味性的绕口令对学生的语言和思维发展具有显著影响。通过学习绕口令，学生能学习新的词汇，同时锻炼口才和纠正发音，进一步建立说华文的自信心。比赛也提供了展示技能和表现的机会，鼓励学生积极参与，并激发对语言学习的兴趣。

5. 五年级：“我是小记者”。

学生将以两人一组的形式参与采访活动。通过该活动，他们将学会如何针对一个特定主题向教师或其他人提问，并且掌握如何根据对方的回答进行继续提问。在这个过程中，学生将需要自信地运用华语进行交流，从而增强他们的沟通技巧和信心。

6. 六年级：“我是西山大使”。

学生需要通过数码平台，运用所学知识和技能，搜集丰富多样的素材资源（包括图片、视频、采访资料等）创作一份精彩的发言稿，来介绍西山小学以及传达他们对学弟妹的美好祝福。在此过程中，学生需要运用创意，把素材转化为富有吸引力和感染力的语言表达，以便在发言时能够引起观众的兴趣和共鸣，有助于通过实践来巩固和拓展他们的语言能力、表达能力和创意思维。

以下是母语双周的历年活动：

腰鼓舞

腰鼓是古老的民族艺术，它源于生活，又很好地表现生活。腰鼓舞的最大特点是鼓点与舞蹈动作的和谐配合和紧密结合。 学生们踩着清脆的鼓点，体验华族乐器的独特风格。

“I Am a Xishan Ambassador” is a Primary 6 project that enables students to use digital tools and creative communication skills to introduce Xishan Primary School and share their aspirations for younger students, while strengthening their Chinese language, presentation, and critical thinking abilities.

茶艺

茶艺文化历史源远流长，它包括了茶叶赏鉴，充满艺术氛围的泡茶过程以及品茗三大部分。我们提供精致的茶具，带领学生亲自观察茶叶、泡茶以及品茶。这项活动成功地引起了学生对茶艺的兴趣，也丰富了他们的文化知识。

制作“吉祥结”

吉祥结是古老的华族传统手工编织工艺品，代表“吉祥、富贵、平安”的寓意。学生通过学习“吉祥结”的编制方法，不仅可以感受到传统文化的内涵，同时也能体验创造美的愉悦。

传统印章

传统印章虽然已逐渐被社会淘汰，但它在华族传统文化中有着重要的历史地位。如今在一些特殊场合，人们仍然会使用到传统印章。我们通过带领学生亲手设计和制作代个人名章，让他们了解印章的文化历史，同时也锻炼了他们的创新和动手能力。

豆画艺术

豆画是古老的名间艺术，表达了古时候人们在大获丰收后淳朴的喜悦之情，寓意“五谷丰登，国泰民安”。学生通过发挥想象力，用形状、颜色、大小不一的豆子就可以构造出栩栩如生的图案。

脸谱

脸谱的产生有悠久的历史，我们通过脸谱的学习带领学生走进戏曲文化。学生根据角色的性格特征设计图案并涂上不同的颜色，了解脸谱的文化意义。

陈兆锦讲故事

学校特地聘请新加坡著名表演艺术家陈兆锦来为同学们风趣地讲述故事。学生们也会尝试演绎故事中的角色，提高学生的语言表达能力，让孩子感受语言的魅力，培养阅读兴趣 。

《舞台剧表演》

我校邀请校外专业剧团来校进行舞台剧表演，为学生演绎寓言故事。生动的表演为学生带来视觉的飨宴，近距离的互动、欢笑、正面积极的引导，让学生更深入思考故事背后的道理。

《故事导读》

我校聘请专业导师为同学进行不同名著的导读活动，利用充满趣味性的互动表演以及小组活动，让学生主动积极地参与到阅读活动中，从而激发学生的思维能力，鼓励学生爱上阅读，扩展写作能力。
