Peer Support Leaders
Peer Support Leaders
A caring and enabling school helps students feel safe, accepted, and confident. Positive peer relationships foster belonging and build resilience, while encouraging socially responsible behaviours through mutual influence.
The three domains of Peer Support and Relationships (PSR) are:
1. Peer Bonding
2. Peer Helping
3. Peer Influencing
At Xishan Primary School, our Peer Support Leaders (PSLs) uphold the motto Be a Buddy, Not a Bully. Their role is to be a friend and nurture a supportive school environment. PSLs guide peers in building positive relationships, showing empathy, and modelling kindness.
Through termly training and guidance from PSL teachers and School Counsellors, they are equipped to lead peer support initiatives effectively and be exemplary role models for their peers.
Buddy Bench
Buddy Bench is a student-led initiative where PSLs plan recess activities that promote peer bonding and inclusion. They take full ownership of the process, from brainstorming ideas, to preparing resources, and facilitating the activities. This allows PSLs to apply their training, strengthen connections across the school community, and foster a caring, inclusive culture.
